We have teamed up with an organization called Move for Hunger, which has years of experience in donating food that would otherwise be discarded during the moving process. Now, we already know food shouldn’t be wasted. Hence we felt obliged to join this movement and join the fight against world hunger. In the following paragraphs, learn about our goals, some food stats and the issue of hunger, and how you can contribute to this movement with your donations.
Why is hunger such a big issue?
There is a very good reason why people say prayers before every meal. Even if you are not a part of a religious community, you are probably aware of some issues hunger has caused so far. Let’s see, in statistic terms, why we need to be more grateful, and more conscientious with those whose meals might depend on our charity. Visit this site for more information on hunger in America: World Hunger
-165 million people suffer from childhood malnutrition.
-41 million people struggle with hunger in the United States, including 13 million children. In 2015, 5.4 million seniors struggled to afford enough to eat.
-Americans waste about 141 trillion calories worth of food every day. That adds up to about $165 billion per year — 4 times the amount of food Africa imports each year.
So, how can we help alter these statistics?
We can start by prompting you to join the movement by booking a move with us, Cross Country Moving Company, and setting aside the food you have accumulated in your home, prior to the moving date. Let’s scare the hunger away with our united efforts. The only thing you will need is your willingness to contribute to this initiative. You will not be required to buy or haul around tons of food. We will be there on your moving day, to help you load your belongings and acquire the food items we will then send to the organization. We see this as a win-win situation for all three parties.
What do we hope to accomplish?
After being invited to join this movement, our views on being active contributors to a cause have definitely changed. We realized we didn’t have to make a tremendous effort and exert ourselves, but we still helped a lot with our part of the task. We now hope to gather as many charitable clients who will feel just as passionate about donating as we have grown to be. We aspire toward nothing but feed more people while doing our job, each day trying a little bit harder than before. During the month of spooky and scary costumes and tons of candy, let’s find a way to scare the hunger together!
